Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and film actor who was famous for her portrayal as the fiery attorney Teri Joseph on the Showtime show Soul Food. Contractor is a Mumbai-born Indian, who lived in Nigeria since she was just seven years old. She was well-versed in the world's cultures, and traveled extensively even at a very young age. At the age of seven through nine, she was a student at boarding schools in London. The family later moved to Toronto where she lived through the majority of her childhood. Contractor was an outstanding student in Toronto and trained as an expert ballet dancer.
